It all started with a trip to the Mission Tim Hortons to grab a cup of hot chocolate, but resulted in two broken arms and close to a 55-hour wait in the new Abbotsford Regional Cancer Centre and Hospital.

Alan Costain said his brother Bob Holmwood (they have different last names but were raised together) was out getting a warm drink last Wednesday when, on the way home, he got into a collision while riding his motorcycle. He was rushed to the new medical facility in Abbotsford at around 1:30 p.m., but that's where - Costain says - the rushing ended.

"It was around 55 hours that he waited to get operated on," said Costain, who phoned and visited the hospital last Thursday, expecting his brother to go into the operating room several times.
