Those 40 and over get to an age where they can afford to indulge in a recreational activity like motorcycle driving - and they do so.

That from Kwei Quaye, S-G-I's Assistant Vice President Traffic Safety Services who says although they would like a couple more years of data to really identify trends, SGI did note that more people in the 40 and over age bracket were registering as new motorcycle drivers.

As well, we have more motorcycle drivers licensed in the province but there were fewer accidents.  From January till the end of October this year, there were 4,322 new motorcyclists in the province compared to 3,530 in 2006.  But there were 166 crashes in Saskatchewan in 2008 compared to 184 in 2006. (vmf nov 12/08)To read the original article: http://www.saskatoonhomepage.ca/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14913&Itemid=374
