A member of the Vancouver Police Department is the fourth Lower Mainland officer facing drinking and driving charges — the third such incident involving police over the last month.

The 30-year-old patrol constable, with three and a half years of experience, was off-duty when a marked police car saw a vehicle weaving on Knight Street at about 4 a.m. on Sunday. The car was pulled over and the driver failed two breathalyzer tests.

“The charges have been forwarded to the Crown but they have not been approved yet so we cannot release his name,” Const. Tim Fanning said yesterday.
