The 13th annual Alzheimer's Motorcycle Poker Derby took place this past weekend.
A total of 78 riders hit the road Saturday morning, taking a 238 kilometer ride that took them out to Carberry, Glenboro, Holland and Austin.

“It’s one of our major fundraising events during the course of the year,” said events coordinator Adam Brown.
Each rider collects pledges in support of the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. “For every 25 dollars they collect or raise, they’re entitled to play one poker hand,” said Brown.

Registration began at 9 a.m. at Dinsdale Park. A pancake breakfast followed, with the riders getting on their bikes and taking to the road just before noon.  “This also helps the rural communities in Westman as well because the motorcycle riders tour around the community and stop for a coffee, do a little shopping, have an ice cream or whatever. It gives them a little economy booster,” said Brown.
