IAN BAILEY -Globe & Mail - November 1, 2008 VANCOUVER -- RCMP spokesmen say they have just learned that another B.C. officer was charged with impaired driving and are trying to figure out how the fact remained unknown for nearly a year. The news, disclosed yesterday, comes in the midst of intense debate within B.C. over issues of impaired driving among police officers. The discussion was sparked by an incident last weekend in which an off-duty Mountie, accused of being impaired, was involved in a traffic accident that left a 21-year-old man dead, as well as a case involving an officer with the New Westminster Police Department involved in a collision while allegedly impaired.
