Sturgis is known for motorcycles.  It's only fitting that high school students there have been spending the last three months building a custom bike. That motorcycle was unveiled Monday.

Larry Brinker and Rex Marsee can’t be blamed for their poor timing. Sometimes in business you need a crystal ball. Larry has over 40 years of automotive design background, and has even taught design in Italy. Rex has been involved in the motorcycle industry for more than 40 years (most notably in the design and sale of motorcycle clothing and luggage, such as tank bags) and has even taken a crack at creating his own custom motorcycle, now and then. An accomplished welder and fabricator, he graduated to designing and building bars, shops and restaurants throughout the UK. After selling his business five years ago, Frank moved to the French Alps and was finally able to return to his childhood passion—motorcycles. Finally getting some time on his hands, he decided to build his own motorcycle, “with a style and individuality that most major manufacturers seem to neglect,” he says. READ ON

2012 Once is Never Enough (ONE) Allstate Awareness Program

Allstate's newest motorcycle awareness campaign, "Once is Never Enough" (ONE), encourages other drivers to look twice for motorcycles at intersections.

And to help push this campaign, Rick Fairless is building the "ONE" bike, which will be auctioned off on an episode of Discovery Channel's hit show "Auction Kings" on May 23.

Allstate says all proceeds from the auction will go directly to the donation and installation of "Watch for Motorcycles" warning signs at dangerous intersections across the country; these signs are part of Allstate's "Once is Never Enough" campaign. READ ON

MIDLAND – While it might smell like a french fry truck, Eckhard Schulz’s latest creation is much cooler.
The 57-year-old Midland resident has been restoring old motorcycles for years, but recently decided to take on a unique project – building a motorcycle that runs on vegetable oil.
“I went on the Internet and saw – mostly in Europe – where companies started building or using existing motorcycles and converting them into a different fuel source: diesel and vegetable oil,” he said.
The native of Germany imported three 800cc, 2,200-horsepower engines from China, and then used BMW motorcycle frames to adopt the engine to existing parts. READ ON
