When Mission Motors unveiled its Mission R electric motorbike, it garnered a lot of attention -- enough that the company created a Mission Motorcycles group to handle its new darling. That division now has something to show for its work, as it's detailing the launches for both the Mission R and a limited edition Mission RS. The regular R will cost $29,999 (after a $2,500 tax credit), which nets a 163HP motor, a basic 105-mile battery and an information system with a camera, HUD and navigation. READ ON
The Translogic crew has trekked northward to Ashland, OR, to ride the epically electrified Brammo Empulse R motorcycle. With a six-speed transmission that enables both huge accelerative potential and 100+ mile per hour top speeds, as well as a maximum range of 121 miles, the Empulse R case on paper is pretty solid. Team Icon Brammo has unveiled their new TTXGP machines for the 2013 season. At the same time the team has announced the two riders which will hopefully bring even more glory for the tam: Eric Bostrom and Steve Atlas, each riding a white/neon yellow and neon orange Empulse RR bike, respectively. Electric motorcycles are "cleaner" than gas bikes, we're told. Safer, lower maintenance, and more accessible for novice riders, too. That's all well and good-noble, even. But what about those of us who only care about going fast? Not only are electric racebikes much slower than gas-fired counterparts, they also weigh too much and run out of juice too soon. Fail.
