Wolfville to Scot's Bay

Wolfville to Scot

Route Summary

1) The town of Wolfville is a lovely place to make birth on this particular route. It has many restaurants, pubs, and bed and breakfasts to accommodate you. There is also a nice market that takes place on front st. every sat morning and afternoon.

Wolfville is also home to Acadia University which has been named Canada's top 5 universities for the past number of years.

As you move out of wolfville on this route you will begin to cross the many dykes that supply the valley with water for crops. A bunch of views become available to you as you continue north. The minas basin also is home to some of the largest tides in the world and near port williams you can witness these tremendous tides in action as they fill and drain local rivers each day.

2) At you first resting point named "the lookoff" for obvious reasons you can see the tides in action from a birds eye view. On a clear day you can see ten's of miles down the mouth of the valley with it's sectioned dykes to it's different colored crop fields.

Just behind the look off is a local campground aptly named Lookoff camping Park which also has a lovely cafe where you can grab a bite to eat and enjoy the view.

3) Continuing on towards Scots Bay you'll find a wonderful rock beach where you can experience the tides up close and personal, just don't leave anything unattended because those tides are fast and can sweep away a beech towel and lunch in the blink of an eye.

Cape Split is probably one of the more exciting trails that can be found in the region. Located at the end of the lane (don't worry there are signs). It is a good 5 hour hike round trip but the 16 km journey is well worth it. The trail is split into two and if you are a novice hiker I would suggest taking the northern (the right when it's splits) trail.
