Niagara Regional Police, Niagara Emergency Medical Services and the St. Catharines Fire Service responded to the crash scene on Glendale Ave. near Old Seaway Haulage Rd. in St. Catharines at about 3 p. m.
Police report in a release that a 45-year-old Niagara Falls man was driving a 2001 Chrysler Intrepid westbound in the curb lane of Glendale Ave.
At the same time a 42-year-old Welland man was driving his 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle behind the Chrysler in the westbound centre lane of Glendale Ave., police said.
The driver of the Chrysler attempted to make a U-turn and crossed into the path of the Harley- Davidson, said police.
The motorcycle rider crashed into the drivers' side of the Chrysler and was thrown from his motorcycle.
The Welland man was taken to St. Catharines General hospital where he was treated for serious injuries. The driver of the Chrysler was uninjured in the collision.
Police have not released the names of either driver.
