It was a wet and at times wild, but the Red Ride to Support Our Military Families was primarily a success.
The charity motorcycle ride, which began Saturday morning in Renfrew, survived a downpour of rain and even thunder and lightning en route to raising $2,000 for the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC).
Organizers with the Renfrew County H.O.G. (Harley (Davidson) Owners Group) Chapter # 9987 said the inclement weather did hurt participation but given the conditions, they were still happy with the amount raised.
"It was a little damper out today than we would have liked, especially when we left Renfrew, it was just pouring," said Mary Ethier, public relations officer for the HOG chapter. "There was even a little thunder and lightning in Renfrew, which for motorcyles is dangerous, but everybody made it safe and sound. We still raised about $1,100 and considering the awful weather, we're happy with that."
Pete's Sales and Service, the sponsoring Harley Davidson dealer topped up the amount raised to make the donation an even $2,000. To read the rest of the article: http://www.thedailyobserver.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1572210
