Denis Gagnon was glad to have an opportunity to take his motorcycle out Saturday.

Despite the call for rain, the biker rode his motorcycle to Northgate Shopping Centre Saturday for the official kick-off of the 2nd Nipissing Ride for Dad.

Organizers hope the event, which attracted more than 200 riders last year, will raise both funds and awareness for prostate cancer. The run sees hundreds of riders parade through North Bay and then on a 150-km tour of the surrounding area, ending at Callander Community Centre for a dinner and entertainment by Johnny Williams.

“I’m pumped,” said organizer Charlie ‘Chopper’ Cameron. “I’m excited to do it again.”

For Cameron, the second year of the event marks not only a successful event, it marks another year since Cameron overcame prostate cancer himself. To read the rest of the article:
