Harley-Davidson summer-quarter profit tumbles on weaker sales

MILWAUKEE - Harley - Davidson Inc. says its third-quarter profit tumbled 37 per cent as credit-strapped customers bought fewer bikes.

The iconic motorcycle maker says its profit for the quarter ended Sept. 28 fell to $166.5 million, or 71 cents per share, from $265 million, $1.07 per share, in the year-ago quarter.
