A 60-year-old Courtenay man died Tuesday in a motorcycle accident on the Strathcona Parkway.
Christopher Lawrence Tinga, was heading down from Mount Washington around 6 p.m. when his bike crossed the westbound lane and left the highway.
He lived through the accident but died at the scene.
His wife was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital from the scene and has serious but non-life threatening injuries.
An RCMP collision analyst and the BC Coroners Service are investigating. However, RCMP believe speed and road conditions may have been a factor.
"There was an indication that he may have hit some gravel and lost control and gone across that way but speed is definitely a factor here," said Const. Dennis Flint.
