The trial against an off duty Mountie involved in a fatal road accident has yet to begin and a great injustice has already been carried out. Corporal Benjamin Monty Robinson is scheduled to be in Surrey Provincial Court Dec. 8 to face the charge of obstructing justice after his Jeep allegedly collided with the motorcycle ridden by 21-year-old Orion Hutchinson of Tsawwassen. The incident happened in late October of 2008 on a quiet residential street. The fact it has taken until now to bring this case before the courts is another matter, so is the fact the accused RCMP member was only formally charged earlier this week.
