BOTHWELL — Buelah Jones had the ride of a lifetime Saturday.
The 83-year-old Bothwell-area woman took her first motorcycle ride, something she’s always wanted to do.
“It was wonderful, just wonderful. My dream came true,” an exhilarated Jones said when she returned from a spin around the countryside with Keith Zuefeld of Duke’s Harley Davidson.
“You are never too old to take a motorcycle ride,” she added.
Jones was surprised with the ride by her family, friends and neighbours.
Her niece Ida Vsetula said she organized the event after Jones bragged about driving an ATV last year. After that adventure, Jones mentioned that she’d really like to try a motorcycle.
Vsetula said she immediately began planning and called Duke’s to see if they could help.
“Everything kept falling into place,” she said, noting the dealership was eager to help introduce Jones to two-wheel travel.
The ride was an early birthday present for Jones, who turns 84 in November.
It was a big surprise.
“She didn’t have a clue,” Vsetula laughed, adding Jones thought she was throwing a summer party Saturday.
