Respect, more of it.

Last week I started my rant about respect, living I and why it is so important. My rant is not near over. In fact I am just getting started. I am pissed. Really pissed! The government of Canada is making it abundantly clear that they do not respect veterans, their rights and refuse to provide for the injured a quality of life that reflects dignity and honour, and most of all respect.

Why should injured veterans have to mount a lawsuit against the government to stop the clawback of their disability benefits…. The government was slammed by Justice Barnes in a scathing ruling that clearly delineates the miscarriage of just ice and the fundamental abuse of veterans by the government who represents the people of Canada. Look at the outrage over John Larlee, the head of the Veterans Review and Appeal Board. Injured vets wind up fighting tooth and nail, hamm er and tong for everything that they should receive as a Matter of Course, given their service. Their claims are routinely and systematically denied while the chairman takes junkets to London, England for profess ional development to conferences that have nothing to do with Veterans affairs and his job. We the taxpayers foot a bill for $7245 for two trips. Oh,did I forget to mention his wife was a speaker at these conferences … This is the same group slammed by the veterans ombudsman for abuse of veterans in their quasi judicial kangroo court of disservice.

I am failing to see how we are serving our vetrans well, and by extension the serving military. Sleepy Rob Anders, Limo rider Savoy Stayin Bev Oda and junket jockey John Larlee are just three cases in the l ast three months.How many more are there out there…. Probably enogh to si cken the staunchest of government supporters. Where is the respect.

 I do know where some of it will be displayed… The Ride for Red is happening the 16th of June in Nova Scotia, The Ride in Red is to take place on Saturday, June 16, 2012, and will leave from various locations throughout Nova Scotia/New Brunswick/PEI. All riders will be meeting by 2 PM at the Irving Big Stop at Exit 7 on the 102 and riding to the destination of the Officer ’s Mess in Eastern Passage.

There will be a small fee for this ride of $20.00 per BIKE. Registration includes admission to the ride and one tee-shirt which is for admission to the destination. A second shirt may be purchased but not REQUIRED. Proceeds from the ride go to UN-NATO Veterans to support Veterans initiatives in NS.Nova Scotia. The rallying point is the Big St op in Enfield.

 I will be there supporting Jim Lowther and Veterans Emergency Transition services, ground support for Homeless Veterans. Anything you can do to support will be welcomed.

You can be a part of the problem , like our government or a part of the solution. I know what most bikers will do. Thank God forRespect!
