Courtenay man killed when motorcycle leaves mountain road

A 60-year-old Courtenay man died Tuesday evening when his motorcycle lost control in a switchback curve on the Strathcona Parkway nine kilometres up the road to Mount Washington.

Christopher Lawrence Tinga was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported via air ambulance to Victoria General Hospital.

The motorcycle was travelling eastbound on the parkway, crossed the westbound lane and left the roadway.
