Happy Birthday Biker Radio

10 Mar 2013

Where did the time go ? wow well we are now officially one year old today !

It has been a great pleasure to build Biker Radio with Rider and a learning experience along the way. I have personally been a DJ off and on for a period of ten years and have seen many sites come and go, But what we built here has taken off in such a tremendous way, Biker Radio has grown to be much more than just a typical social site & We are the fastest growing social network on the net as we have reached goals no other sites have had in this amount of time. We are still considered a "baby site" and it has been a huge pleasure to share our site with you.

Thank you to all our members who have joined our site and continue to share our site with your freinds as rider would say " its you guys that make the site" and you truly do.

Thank you to all our network partners whom we network with that have a bigger goal in mind such as Belt Drive Betty- Two Wheels for Warriors- Cruisin2Cure- Bikers For Autism ( who i got to meet last summer in person) and CAV Site- to name a few.

Thank you also to our dedicated Dj's we truly appreciate what you do here.

We hope you join us tonight starting at 7 pm as our dj's play every thirty minutes rotating shifts to play your requests & games & contests while we celebrate one year with you

Tribute tonite to Stompin Tom Connors

07 Mar 2013

Tonight in Biker Radio: Stompin Tom Connors : Connors passed away Wednesday from natural causes at the age of 77:

knew his health was declining and had penned a message for his fans a few days before his death,i n the message posted on his website, Connors says "Canada kept him "inspired with its beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world."

Dj Raven will be playing a special hour tribute in dedication to Stompin Tom Connors at 7  pm

one of Canada's most prolific and well-known country and folk singers.
He was born Thomas Charles Connors in Saint John, New Brunswick At the age of 15 he left his adoptive family to hitchhike across Canada, a journey that consumed the next 13 years of his life as he travelled between various part-time jobs while writing songs on his guitar. At his last stop in Timmins, Ontario, which may also have been his big "break", he found himself a nickel short of a beer at the city's Maple Leaf Hotel. The bartender, Gaet Lepine, agreed to give Tom a beer if he would play a few songs. These few songs turned into a 13-month contract to play at the hotel, a weekly spot on CKGB in Timmins, eight 45-RPM recordings, and the end of the beginning for Tom Connors.
Connors is credited with writing more than 300 songs and has released four dozen albums, with total sales of nearly 4 million copies. His music touched many and some times with very political messages ,In the book Shake Hands with the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda, Romeo Dallaire, the Canadian general who led the UNAMIR peacekeeping force in Rwanda during that country's 1994 genocide reported that he played a recording of Tom's song "The Blue Berets" (about United Nations peacekeeping forces) to keep up his troops' morale while their headquarters was under bombardment.

Stompin Tom Connors will be greatly missed in the music industry and it is an honor to be able to play a tribute to his folk music tonite-
