Nearly 20,000 people visited the Faro Bike Meet last weekend, which despite being one of the biggest annual events to be held in the Algarve this year received no backing whatsoever from national or regional authorities.
Speaking to The Portugal News José Amaro, president of the Faro Bike Club which organises the mammoth event, lamented the lack of support from authorities and their apparent inability to acknowledge the importance of the event.
“It is the largest event in Faro and one of the biggest in the Algarve” in terms of the number of people it attracts both from Portugal and abroad, José Amaro explained, describing the annual event as a “plus for the region.” READ ON
