High school teacher and father of two Mark Carmichael likes to be on the edge, but not over it.
When he's over the edge, it's inevitably a painful landing for the Brookswood resident, who is a member of the Westwood Motorcycle Roadracing Club (Visit wmrc.ca).
Carmichael's day job is teaching shop at Guildford Park Secondary. Most weekends through the spring and summer, you'll (sort of) see him at Mission Raceway Park as he flashes past spectators while aboard his Suzuki gsxr 600cc and 750cc motorcycles.
"To be competitive, you have to be right on the limit, trying to win," explained Carmichael. "You're on that fine line of being in control and out of control. You are right on the edge of the tires all the time."
The odd time those tires give out, the end result is enough to make faint-hearted folks wince and grab for their chests. For example: Carmichael crashed twice in the same day last year.
