Norton's Aprilia-based TT bike

Norton's TT BikeNORTON has revealed the bike it will race at this year's TT – a Spondon-framed special running an Aprilia RSV4 engine.

Although the British firm originally had plans to make its own MotoGP machine, complete with bespoke V4 engine and FTR chassis, and also hoped to race the same bike at the TT, the reality is somewhat less ambitious. An off-the-shelf Aprilia engine, not dissimilar to the kit used in CRT GP bikes, has been bolted to a Spondon-made chassis and will be ridden this year by Ian Mackman. READ ON 

Leicestershire motorcycle maker Norton promises to tackle backlog

Leicestershire-based Norton Motorcycle says high demand for its hand-built bikes has resulted in some delays in deliveries.

Chief Executive Officer Stuart Garner said his firm is aiming to clear up the backlog by the end of the year.

Pierre Terblanche Now at Norton Motorcycles

Long a fixture in the Italian motorcycle industry, legendary designer Pierre Terblanche has now signed up with Norton Motorcycles UK to design for the returning British marque. You should know Terblanche from such bikes as the Ducati Multistrada (first generation), Hypermotard, and the entire SportClassics line.

Then there is his recent design work for Moto Guzzi with Miguel Galluzzi on the V12LM, V12X and V12 Strada concepts. That V12 concept project was done while working for himself as a consultant for Piaggio Group, owner of the Mandello del Lario manufacturer. In this case, though, Terblanche is a full-time employee of Norton and will work at the Donington Park factory right near the middle of England. Norton Motorcycles roars out three new Commandos

Motorcycles are no different than life itself, timing is everything whether you’re riding one or selling them. Just ask Norton.

No sooner did the famous iconic British brand announce their intentions to officially roar back into the United States than they unveiled three new versions of the company’s Commando line at the massive motorcycle show taking place in England.

With the new features, no longer will a would-be café racer have to ride alone with the standard Commando reportedly changed substantially in order to take a pillion.

Norton Hires Ex-Ducati CEO Van Epps Former DNA boss to lead Norton’s US revival
