HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELT DRIVE BETTY!!!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY - RIDE SAFE
On June 25, 2011, the Canadian Oilfield Riders’s held the 23rd. annual ride in support of the Children’s Wish foundation – which brought out about 100 riders. The day started with registration and a pancake breakfast at Chestermere Lake – followed by a ride southwest into the foothills through Turner Valley, over the Highwood Pass and ending at the Dog Pound Rodeo grounds. There activities included a bikini bike wash, show and shine and other motorcycle activities. This was followed with a steak bbq. ,live music, firepits, and for a number of rid ers an overnight campout.
From the event we were able to present the Children’s Wish with a cheque for $15,000. Part of the fundraising activities included a “pledge sheet” campaign prior to the event – at which Al Postma set a new bar by singlehandedly raising $5070.
This year’s run will be held on June 23 – with a route starting at Chestermere and a destination of the campsite at W ayne, Alberta (just past the historic “Rosedeer Hotel”). There, participants will be able to enjoy motorcycle rodeo events and other games, show and shin e, a smoked brisket bbq, live music (with a band made up of long time participants in the Canadian Oilfield Riders) and great fellowsh ip. There is lots of room for overnight camping in this beautiful “badlands” setting. Full details, registration and pledge forms can be found on the website canadianoilfieldriders.ca .
We encourage all riders to join us for this great day and cause. This year will set the stage for 2013 ride, when we will “crank things up” for the milestone of our 25th Anniversary Run.
