Suzuki Announces 2011 Models More 2011 announcements to come

20 Jul 2010
Suzuki has announced its first 2011 models after opting against bringing any models to the U.S. in 2010.

The Japanese manufacturer did not release any 2010 streetbikes, deciding instead to continue selling its existing inventory as the entire industry struggled. Suzuki is back with new models, however, just in time to celebrate its 50th anniversary of international racing.

Suzuki GSX1250F (2010-current)

26 Mar 2010
Suzuki GSX1250F (2010-current)While the rest of the motorcycle industry struggles with inflated pricing, Suzuki is offering the 1250cc, full-faired all-rounder GSX1250F for less than £7k. That’s partly because mechanically it’s almost entirely a Bandit 1250SA – but the fairing and accessories list make it more useful and sportier looking.

Preliminary Approval of Settlement Reached in Case Alleging Design Defect with Suzuki Motorcycle

02 Mar 2010

PHILADELPHIA, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida -- Miami Division granted preliminary approval of settlement in a breach of warranty class action suit brought against American Suzuki Motor Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation for damages allegedly caused from a design defect with the 2005 and 2006 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycles.

Ruben Honik, Esquire, of the Philadelphia law firm, Golomb & Honik, P.C., negotiated the settlement on behalf of a class of more than 26,000 members after extensive investigations, discovery, motion practice, and mediation with Suzuki and its U.S. and Japanese counsel.

Plaintiff claimed that a threaded screw hole drilled into a non-weld location on the motorcycle's frame created innate structural instability creating the potential for the frame to crack or break while being operated. After this lawsuit was brought, Suzuki initiated a voluntary safety recall to enhance the frame strength and safety.

The GSX R-1000 is the most popular and best-selling model of the "sport bike" motorcycles manufactured by Suzuki, with annual sales estimated to be in excess of 13,000 units per year in the United States alone.

Although Suzuki denies any wrongdoing or liability, the parties agreed to settle the matter. "Owners of this model motorcycle now have additional meaningful remedies available to them as a result of this settlement agreement," explained Honik.

The final settlement hearing is scheduled to be heard on April 2, 2010.

Suzuki GSX-R400R (1990-1996)

12 Jan 2010
Suzuki GSX-R400R (1990-1996)Suzuki’s GSX-R400 is easily mistakable for its larger brother the 750 with its distinctive slingshot looks and aluminum frame. Not as sought after as the other Japanese 400cc imports, but that keep prices low and means you can grab a bargain. Handling is excellent handling, but the engine requires a thrashing as its all revs, but it’s still rew...

VW Buys 20 Percent of Suzuki

10 Dec 2009
News service Reuters reported that Volkswagen, the largest carmaker in Europe, has agreed to buy a 19.9% stake in Suzuki Motor Corp. for $2.5 billion. VW and Suzuki plan to jointly develop vehicles for emerging markets and aim to challenge the global leader in vehicle production, Toyota Motor Co.

The move gives Volkswagen a stronger presence in two of the emerging world markets, India and China. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., reportedly makes half of all cars sold in India, while China is set to surpass the U.S. this year as the world’s largest car market. To read the rest of the article: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/599/5263/Motorcycle-Article/VW-Buys-20-Percent-of-Suzuki.aspx
