Bikers bring bucks and bags of toys to children's hospital

It may be the end of the road for a biker group that has raised money for the Alberta Children's Hospital, but its legacy will live on.

The ECL Choppers for Charity Grand Finale Harley Ride and Toy Run roared into the parking lot of the hospital Friday.

The bikers came with $300,000 and a carload of games and stuffed animals for the children.

"As far as ECL is concerned, this is the last one," said Tom Fredericks, ECL Group of Companies board chairman. "We sold our company and we don't have enough of our own employees to support it."

Fredericks said the Alberta-based family company that specialized in transportation and oilfield work was bought in mid-April by RTL-Westcan Group of Companies. He said he does have some people in mind to take over the ride, but doesn't know if they'll be up for the mission.
