The next side trip you can take is to the gorgeous Maligne Lake. On the way stop in at Maligne Canyon, and take in the breathtaking 165 foot high gorge. This canyon has 6 bridges along its walking path; each with stunning views. After your walk, take advantage of the beautiful picnic area to enjoy your bagged lunch.

When you are ready, jump back on your bike and head towards Maligne Lake, all along this route you will have many opportunities to see the magnificent wildlife.

Located in the majestic Maligne Valley, this picture perfect lake is the second largest glacier-fed lake in the Rockies. It stretches 22km (14 mi.). A one-and-a-half hour boat cruise will take you past the glacier-studded mountains peaks to world-famous Spirit Island or you might try your hand at fishing, canoeing or hiking, for those feeling a little mellower, have a coffee or pick up a few souvenirs.

After taking in the splendour of the Maligne Valley, there is another short side trip on this road to consider.
On your way back in to the Jasper town site, just before the main highway is a turn off to the Fairmont Jasper Lodge Resort.

Before you reach the resort you will discover the turn off to Lake Edith and Lake Annette is just a wee bit up the road.

These two gems offer beautiful sandy beaches and wonderful day use areas. Here is where your shorts or swim trunks will come in handy on a hot sunny afternoon.
Bird watchers will love Lake Annette and the Osprey that hunt in the region.
