The Grand River will soon roar once again with the sound of thunder.
Former champ Mike Werner Jr. is scheduled to compete against fellow speedsters in fast-paced boating action when the Thunder on the Grand makes its triumphant return.
"Dunnville is the oldest site in Canada that still holds racing events," said Jim Misener, Vice President of the Toronto Outboard Racing Company (TORC), "and we're excited to be back."
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Canadian Boating Federation, under which all Canadian boat racing is sanctioned, TORC has reduced the racing entry fees -from $30 per entry to 60 cents for the junior classes.Purposely planned to coincide with Friday the 13th festivities, the event is sponsored by the Sesquicentennial Committee and is expected to draw huge crowds along the river on Aug. 14 and 15. Committee members hope bikers will make a pitstop in Dunnville on their way back from Port Dover.
