Heads up for two-wheelers

Campbell River RCMP are warning motorists to be aware of motorcyclists on the roads as the weather gets warmer.

"February is the month when most people break their bike out because we'll get one or two days of sunshine," said RCMP Cpl. Brian Brown. "The roads are still sandy. Driving is still treacherous and people aren't ready or prepared for motorcycles. They're not looking for them.

"This is the time of year that we get the most accidents involving motorcycles and particularly fatals involving motorcycles."

Police and ambulance were called to a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle last Thursday evening at Dogwood Street and Evergreen Road. They say a 20-year-old Campbell River man dressed in black and riding a black 1989 Honda motorcycle was running a yellow light when he was struck by a Honda car driven by a 23-year-old Campbell River woman trying to turn left on the yellow. The man was knocked off the bike. He was taken to hospital suffering from pelvic pain. The accident is still under investigation.   To read the rest of the article: http://www.canada.com/Heads+wheelers/1325551/story.html
