Electric motorcycle rolls into town, but not into the embrace of bikers

The Zero S model

Packed with lithium-ion batteries, “The Little Electric Engine That Could” hummed into the 2012 Chicago Bike Show last week along with the rumble of traditional gasoline-powered motorcycles. 

Zero Motorcycles based in Santa Cruz, Calif., is the only company that produces and sells 100 percent electric motorcycles. Four of its five models are street legal and can be charged through a standard 110 or 220-volt outlet.
