EDMUNDSTON - A province-wide contest, part of the annual Tree of Hope fundraising campaign, will prove 'hair-razing' for many.

The "Razor for Hope Contest" was launched this week in Edmundston by the Tree of Hope Edmundston regional committee as an innovative way to collect funds for the annual campaign in support of cancer research and cancer sufferers.

Over the next four weeks, ending Nov. 25, those wanting to participate in the contest must raise a minimum of $500 in contributions and be willing to have their heads shaved for a chance at the top prize, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The inspiration for the contest came from the annual Country Dance for the Tree of Hope held in nearby Clair last month, said Roland Beaulieu, campaign vice-chairman, who had his head shaved at the Clair event.
