This in from Ken MacDondald of Sarnia-Lambton BRO and a friend of his on Facebook...

Just a note for info: Quebec passed a law last fall that requires all vehicles to have snow tires installed from Nov 15 to March 15th. So guess what the cops are doing to the early bikers? Get ticked for not having winter rubber and impound the bike cause you don't pass the safety. Brilliant.

Don't come to Quebec before Sunday.

There you have it folks...riders in Quebec are getting the shaft yet again!

MONTREAL, Jan. 5 /CNW Telbec/ - Michael Cole arrives in Montreal today on
his cross country motorcycle trip to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes and
funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Cole commenced his
fundraising tour in St. John's, NFLD on January 1 and will conclude in
Victoria, BC.
"My goal is a world voice for diabetes," states Michael Cole. "I am
riding across Canada in January to make my voice heard and to raise awareness
of type 1 diabetes."
Cole, 46, has lived with type 1 diabetes for 38 years. Diagnosed when he
was 8 1/2 years of age, Mike's ambition for this cross Canada motorcycle trip
is to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes, and raise funds for the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation. His goal is to raise $100,000 for diabetes
research and to complete the ride within three weeks.
"On behalf of JDRF Montreal, we are pleased to welcome Mike as he passes
through," says Denis Lalonde, Regional Manager, JDRF Montreal. "Mike's
Canada-wide fundraising and awareness campaign is much appreciated by the over
200,000 Canadians living with type 1 diabetes."
During this 7,000km ride across Canada, Michael's stops will include
Halifax, Charlottetown, Moncton, Fredericton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto,
Sudbury, Sault St. Marie, Thunder Bay, Kenora, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary,
Edmonton, Jasper, Kamloops, Vancouver and Victoria.

About the Harley Ride across Canada

The Harley Ride across Canada is a third party fundraising event for the
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Michael Cole will ride his 1995 Harley
Davidson softail custom motorcycle across Canada beginning January 1, 2009
departing from St. John's, NFLD. Mike, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
when he was eight years old, wants to raise funds and awareness of type 1
diabetes and the growing number of people being diagnosed with type 1
diabetes. Mike will be making stops in various major centres across Canada
asking for support to fund a cure.

A Laval lawyer arrested at his home on allegations he tried to bribe an RCMP investigator has been ordered to not communicate with a man described as one of the most influential members of the Montreal Mafia.

Just hours after he was arrested yesterday morning, Gerardo Nicolo, 40, appeared at the Montreal courthouse where he faces charges of trying to bribe an officer and obstructing justice.

Nothing was said about the investigation itself during the brief hearing. But the conditions Nicolo, a member of the Quebec Bar since 2003, was ordered to follow in order to be released indicate the alleged crimes involve the Mafia and possibly Project Colisée, the lengthy investigation into the criminal organization.
