Over a third of the motorcycles tested by the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) at a series of free clinics failed to meet new limits under the city's noise bylaw.

Officers put on eight sessions at various locations in September and October. Those came in the wake of changes to the City of Saskatoon's noise bylaw. 

The bylaw allows for officers to issue tickets to riders of motorcycles that idle louder than 92 decibels, as measured from 50 centimetres away from the tailpipe

SPS spokesperson Alyson Edwards said about 38 per cent of the 192 vehicles tested were found to be too loud.  READ ON

The Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance awarded two Harley-Davidson motorcycles to the winners of a sweepstakes for customers of Auto Value and Bumper to Bumper stores.

Jeff Ireland from Jeff’s Tire in Bordentown, N.J., a customer of Alliance member Eastern Warehouse Distributors, won a Sportster 1200 Custom Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the Perfect Stop/ThermoQuiet Harley-Davidson Giveaway contest. Ireland’s name was drawn from over 10,000 entries of customers of Auto Value or Bumper to Bumper stores who purchased either Perfect Stop by Wagner or Wagner Thermoquiet products in July and August.

The second winner was Ray Miller of Minute Muffler in Regina, Saskatchewan, a customer of Alliance member Auto Electric Service.

Saskatoon Police are reminding motorcycle owners there are two opportunities over the weekend to have their motorcycles tested for compliance with Noise Bylaw amendments.

Today (Fri.) at MD Ambulance on Warman Road officers will be conducting enforcement from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Then on Sunday it will be at the same time at Redline Harley Davidson.  READ ON
